As a photographer who enjoys shooting (only with my camera!) animals, I always appreciate it when I get the chance to capture those rare moments where nature truly expresses itself through these wonderful creatures.
Take this baby bison also known as the “Red Dog”. Doesn’t it look so adorable?
We took a lot of photos in Custer State Park that day but this stands out to me as one my best shots because of how perfect the scenario was.
Just look at Red Dog staring at us. Seemingly comfortable with us taking its picture. Just sitting there resting, with no care in the world.
What made the shot even better was the clear blue sky, which really brought the best lighting possible.
This baby bison might seem cute and vulnerable now, but remember that after a few months, it will grow into a powerful adult bison.
Its fur will change from the current light brown to a darker shade.
It was truly wonderful to capture the calving season at Custer State Park in South Dakota.
