This iconic landmark is located at the southernmost point in the continental United States, and having a photo with the buoy is like owning a piece of this historic location.

The Southernmost Point Buoy was first erected in 1983, and since then, it has become a popular tourist attraction for people all over the world.

Visitors flock to the buoy to take photos, and it’s not uncommon to see extremely long lines of people waiting for their turn.

In fact, when we visited here, we got up before dawn on Christmas morning just to beat the crowds and get this shot of the buoy. We were lucky because that was the only time there was no line! Usually, the line is extremely long and can take hours of your day waiting in line to get a photo of this iconic spot.

Aside from the buoy itself, the location is popular for street vendors who sell conch shells as souvenirs to visitors.

The shells are native to the area and are often decorated with images of the buoy, making them a perfect souvenir to commemorate your visit.

Every April, the citizens of Key West celebrate the Southernmost Point Buoy with a big party lasting 10 days.

The festival includes live music, food, and drinks, and is a great way to experience the local culture and traditions of the area.
