Nebraska. Second time we have driven through this state in the past few months. The Midwest really does start here. East of NE “feels” like the “West.” Drier air, mountains, sun. Here, familiar things start appearing. Little things you don’t see in the West, like fresh mowed grass along the freeways. The air is heavier, more humid. You hear them testing the tornado sirens at noon on Wednesday. Oh, and the fresh sweet corn for 10 cents an ear.
