Oh, how high and mighty you rise to the clouds El Capitan!
One of Yosemite Valley’s most iconic landmarks, this 3,000-foot rock formation was standing in all its glory when we last visited the park.
It was a bit difficult at first to find the best spot to take a photo of this behemoth, as finding the best angle to take a photo of the rock proved to be difficult due to the size of the subject.
Fortunately, I found a nice spot on its western-facing side and captured this beautiful photo.
The blue sky with streaks of white clouds, as well as the mountains, make for a good background as El Capitan stands mighty and proud in the foreground.
If you’re planning to visit El Capitan, it’s open all year round, but the best season to do it (especially if you’re planning on climbing it) would be between the summer and winter seasons.
Sometimes you’ll find several climbers trying to summit El Capitan. The granite walls of this natural formation make for a challenge to many rock climbers.
Once you get to the top, watching the sunset is going to be magical. Watching the tip of the mountains turn beautiful shades of orange and red is the perfect end to your day.
