RIP Linda McCartney 24 years ago this month here in Tucson. Linda, apart from being Paul’s constant companion and a co-member of Wings, was a renowned rock photographer before he met her. She was also an animal rights activist. One of the things my husband Brett holds dear about our new hometown is how Paul and Linda McCartney had a ranch here where they had Appaloosa horses that Linda loved to ride. They loved coming to Tucson for 19 winters in a row with their family. Of course, Paul sang in Get Back about how Jojo left his home In Tucson Arizona… and it is speculated that Paul was Jojo, writing about himself. Linda took her last breath here on April 17, 1998 succumbing to breast cancer at the age of 56. Paul’s last words to Linda were “You’re up on your beautiful Appaloosa stallion. It’s a fine spring day. We’re riding through the woods. The bluebells are all out, and the sky is clear-blue”. Today was a beautiful day to drive past their former home here and to remember Linda’s wonderful life.
