Sunrise at Johnnie Mercer’s Fishing Pier on Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington, North Carolina!
I was strolling along Wrightsville Beach before sunrise on this glorious day with wispy clouds in the sky. The weather was absolutely perfect for taking photos.
The waves were gently crashing on the shore, and the whole vibe was just amazing.
Now, the star of the show was Johnnie Mercer’s Fishing Pier.
The pier was named “Johnnie Mercer” in honor of one of the original 1939 owners, who was a famous singer and songwriter, and who also ran the pier for more than 20 years until his death in 1964.
This pier is the first concrete fishing pier in the state of North Carolina, located in the heart of Wrightsville Beach, extending more than 1200 feet into the Atlantic Ocean. Johnnie Mercer’s Pier is a must see for anyone visiting the Wrightsville Beach or Wilmington area.
I set up my gear near the edge of the pier and framed my shot. The contrast of the pier against that mesmerizing blue sea was a true work of art.
And you know what’s cool? The pier is a favorite spot for beachgoers to capture spectacular sunrises and sunsets.
It’s like nature’s canvas ready to be painted with vibrant colors.
I sat and I waited for the sun to make its appearance. The sky started to glow with hues of pastels.
As I snapped away, I couldn’t help but feel the energy of the place, the salty sea breeze, and the joy of being surrounded by fellow beach enthusiasts and photographers who were also trying to compose the perfect image.
Wrightsville Beach has this unique charm that draws you in, and I wanted to capture that essence in my photograph.
And let me tell you, the final shot turned out to be a masterpiece! The pier, the water, and the sunrise, and the colorful sky all came together in perfect harmony, reflecting the beauty of this stunning beach.
