What makes a place feel so warm that you’re compelled to pull over, breathe, and take it all in? That’s what I strangely wondered as I stood in before the Old Edwards Inn and Spa Hall, with its inviting elegance. Located In Highlands, North Carolina, this place has a special allure to it that invites you in. It was then that I realized that my job wasn’t only to take a photo, but to also capture the life of this beautiful place.
Old Edwards Hall had something different, even though I’ve already photographed countless places. The stone walls and wood accents give it a timeless warmth and an incredibly welcoming one. There were the iron chairs, the lamp post, and greenery that made me feel like I’d stumbled into a little pocket of time, and I wanted my photo to reflect that.
As I set up my shot, I thought about all the people that have sat in those chairs. This space felt comfortable, from the way the lamppost stood tall like a gentle guide for guests, the stonework, weathered but still solid, had a quiet story to tell as well. Old Edwards Spa and Hall just worked. Luxury without fuss, comfort without being overwhelming. I took my time and made sure I got that feeling in the frame.
Visiting the Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, North Carolina isn’t about staying at a fancy hotel. It’s about being in a place where time slows down, and you can sit and cherish the little things. When I clicked the shutter, I wasn’t just clicking a picture of a building. I was encapsulating the soul of a place that has been welcoming people for years.
So what made the Old Edwards Hall so special? Maybe it’s the right mixture of nature and history. Or maybe it’s all so well thought out to make you feel at peace. Whatever it is, I’m lucky I was able to freeze that moment in time. If you ever come to Highlands, I hope you make a stop at Old Edwards Inn. Go stand in that very spot, breathe it in and feel how inviting it is.
